Proper Reducer for TOA-130 scope

So, now where I know that the Super Reducer won't work for me, I was looking for others. I found quite the plethora of reducers:

NumberFocal RatioImage CircleBackfocusPrice
TKA31580f5.444mm$719
TKA31580L*f5.865mm106.2mm$3000
TKA31580Sf5.8$745
TKA32580Af/5.444mm$1190
TOA130R f/5.76$719

Apart from the various adapters that I need which one to choose??? Asked on the Uncensored Takahashi mailing list.

* This is the Super Reducer that I tried ...

Most people pointed to the TKA3250A reducer. This is its spot diagram:

Not quite as good as the .67 flattener but WAY better than the 645 reducer.

  2. Hi Mark - did you eventually solve the issues with your reducer? I have a TOA 130 with a TOA FS reducer(31580) which appears to be producing uneven stars and curvature across the field of my new QSI 6162 APS-H format sensor. Did you get the 32580 reducer and does it give you better results? Cheers Andy

  3. Hi Andy,

No, I finally gave up on a reducer for the TOA-130 scope. Which is too bad as it would be great to have a slighter larger fow and smaller f-ratio.
... and I'm still mad at Tahahashi for making such an expensive piece of equipment that doesn't really do the work, but hiding it in some obscure documentation.

  4. Interestingly, the TOA-35RD 0.7x (#32580) works much better on the TOA-150 than on the TOA-130, according to Takahashi’s own spot diagrams.
